New Site...Already

I like Blogger, but our relationship has been short-lived. My new blog will be gospelleaderhsip.wordpress.com. Simply because I like the style and personalization options of wordpress. I like it! Enjoy.

Missional Church: Simple

Churches on mission look like the New Testament Church. Really, we can call it whatever we want - missional, radical , emerging , or whatever nomenclature your crew likes to use. Look through the book of Acts in the New Testament and you'll find God
scattering His people through persecutions and suffering throughout the world with the Gospel on there lips meeting needs as they have the opportunity in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Now, we wouldn't long for suffering and intense persecution to hit the American (or Global) church, but God's sovereign hand was behind the scattering of the believers, that He might get the Gospel to the world. This is God's mission - to redeem and restore the sinfully broken world by reconciling it back into personal relationship with Him through the Death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ - the GodMan. In this mission we are called to engage with God (not for God). It's His church, His mission, His glory.

This video states with creative simplicity and humor the DNA of the Biblically Missional church. Enjoy!

First Creative Resource

As stated in the purpose of the this blog, I hope to share creative resources for communicating the Gospel to all people everywhere. So, here's the first resource I'll throw on here.

Here's a video presenting in sort of a unique way the 10 Commandments. Hope it's useful! Enjoy.

22 and Learning

Introduction

Graduation, marriage, moving, and beginning a new job = lots of change all at once. I am so thrilled to have completed an undergraduate education, to have convinced the most wonderful woman I could have dreamed of to marry me, to have spent a week in paradise, to have relocated to Atlanta, GA, and to have started a new job at Westridge Church all in the last 12 days. God is incredibly faithful and supremely good and this has been all the more evident these last two weeks in Aimee and I's journey.

Change can be wonderful, if you trust in the sovereign God of the universe. I am often naturally uncomfortable with change, but discomfort in what feels unnatural almost always leads to dwelling a little bit deeper, and in the life of a Christ follower, to sanctification. Principle Learned: Feeling uncomfortable in what feels unnatural can lead to being comforted by the One who is Supernatural, God who is our supreme joy.

Purpose

This blog has been created to hopefully do 3 things:

1. Declare the Glory of God and to get more of Him

2. Discuss the Gospel and its implications and applications for leaders (in any context)

3. And to link in to resources for folks looking for gospel-centered, easily accessible and helpful teachings and media.

If this becomes useful, we'll keep it! If not, then why waste the time? We'll throw it out! (Good ministry principle, too ;-).

Structure and Nature

We'll keep the posts short, quick and easy to read, and provide lots of links in the post for further reading and development of ideas presented. The comment section will be open for facilitating conversation beyond the thoughts and ideas presented. Please comment if you so desire! The Nature of the posts will range from theological to practical and as much in between as possible relating to church and non-church ideas, but filtered always through the lens of the Gospel. Let's hope to have at least a post a week at first, so watch twitter and facebook for updates. Here we go!
